I guess, for a designer, it’s like moving into mass market consumer goods using interiors rather than perfume. accessories or cosmetics – the more traditional route to profit making by designers – with the added bonus, for the consumer, of some creative fun in their home.
For the retailer, they maybe get some designer gold-dust rubbed off by association and a product offer of interest to their customers? And the feel-good factor of marketing that has a purpose rather than just being about promotion.
