I’ve been very sad to hear that the design duo at Valentino have split: Maria Grazia Chiuri resigned her position following the Haute Couture show earlier this week amidst rumours that she will be appointed, imminently, as numero uno at a major competitor with a – now – longstanding vacancy.
In the past seven/eight years, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli at Valentino have produced some of the most beautiful designer wear that I’ve ever seen and I do hope that both of them will continue, separately, to be as creatively inspirational as they’ve been together. If so, whopee, we will have two fabulous collections to admire rather than just the one.
Meantime, a nostalgic look back at some of my Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli at Valentino favourites, including my most loved – the musical notes dress, above.
Good times: sigh.
Happy weekend.
