I’ve rather fallen in love with this by Lola Hats: the Espartina, a laced-grosgrain raffia hat, currently to be found at Matches Fashion, £255.
My problem is value-for-money and timing.
As a skin cancer veteran, I do wear sun hats when I’m out but I rarely go out in the sun as both the skin cancer and a vampiric loathing of heat and sun mean that I tend to scurry from one shady internal spot to another when in glaring sun/day light.
My favourite current sun-hat, not dissimilar to the Espartina in style and material but with narrow stripes rather than plain, has been on my head no more than a handful of times in the past five years … it’s not exactly worn out from use.
How do I justify two of these rarely-worn items especially when embarking on a house building project that’s likely to destroy everything in its path however well stored?
To buy or not?
On balance, not this year, I think.
But I do love it 😍
