Pretty things, like fashion, are definitely feeling more frivolous than usual to me at the moment. Not that I ever take the ‘pretty’ too seriously but, maybe as a consequence of weighty world events – nuclear threats to ‘flatten’ a population is where we seem to be, really? – everything else feels too inconsequential.
Nevertheless, I carry on because what else is there, when all seems hellbound, than try to fill your life with fun, laughter and nice, harmless, stuff that makes you feel happy, for a short time at least.
Such ‘stuff’, obviously, includes all the fun of the runway, so while you’re wondering where those opening paragraphs came from, I shall segue back to my yesterday glide through the London Fashion Week (LFW) Runway Collections and conclude my viewing round-up with a number of looks that I liked … some wearable, some not-so-much but that’s what Fashion Weeks are all about.
Molly Goddard, above and first below, Mary Katrantzou and Natasha Zinko were probably my favourite collections, from the images below, but the fab hats from A.W.A.K.E are memorable; the vibrant yellow from Emilia Wickstead and green coat from Erdem – mmmh, very nice too. And Armani have reinvigorated Emporio Armani with some delicious pastel pizzazz.
And, for me, that’s it: London over (except, maybe, for Gareth Pugh, who, as ever, did his own thing and very out there, it was. I might have to take a closer look at that).
Tomorrow, I think I’ll catch up with Milan … assuming the world has made it through another day pretty much whole.
