More beautifully luxe wearable style from Donna Karan’s Urban Zen: F/W 2017 Orient Express Collection.
Rather than working to the regular fashion schedule, Donna Karan’s Urban Zen shows and sells in the current season so if you click the links, what you see here, and more, is what you buy now … novel idea, maybe it’ll catch on.
Urban Zen’s style, quality and finish does not come cheap – starting upwards of $1,200, averaging $1,500-$3,000 for tops and dresses, reaching $7,995 for the shearling jacket, image second from bottom below.
However, if your wallet is able to take the strain, these are gorgeous clothes, very easy and forgiving on the less-svelte body and much that is accommodating for those us ensconced in our wheelchairs.
Plus, there’s a lot of admirable eco-world intent in their philosophy – though I cringe a little at the first/developing world imbalance inherent in that stance. Donna Karan does seem genuinely invested in stimulating local enrichment in her business ventures rather than merely stripping skills and assets for profit.
If we – in developed countries – are going to spend stupid amounts on pretty clothes, we can at least try to spend it in a way that gives something back.
On that cheery end note, why not take a look:
