I am barely able to control my grin as the planning permission for our home renovation project has finally been approved after 15 weeks. Yes, 15 weeks rather than the more expected 8-12 weeks.
i really cannot be getting into the why’s and wherefores because it is truly too boring and I am now feeling overwhelmed by too much ‘stuff-to-do’ which we now need to get stuck into.
Nevertheless, despite a few enforced compromises, grinning I am as my irrepressible enthusiasm for the proposed changes bubbles away, threatening to erupt at any reminder of what I imagine the end product will be.
For example, my top floor study, imagined as a glass eyrie, has, on the planners insistence, had to become more enclosed and will now be more like the image above right.
Still gorgeous, yes, and maybe more suitable for a wheelie with skin cancer (looking for the positive in compromise).
My huge front window will have opening doors and a clear Juliet balcony and my decor will be different – definitely no curtains – except, maybe, for that beautiful Prouvé Potence Lamp, designed by Jean Prouvé, produced by Vitra.
I am undecided between the Prouvé Potence Lamp and something by Serge Mouille but, as you will see if you Google search, the former is a more cost-efficient option.
For my project, should I do a video blog series on wheelchair access and adaptation issues and solutions 🤔
I don’t have to decide now but soon … shivers of excitement 💋
