If you love to see fashion as art – performance art in this case – do check out the YouTube video below of the recent Undercover RTW show at PFW Fall 2017.
I’ve only just caught up with it, having noted the rave comments at the time and I love it. Visually stunning.
There’s a concept, of course, about Utopia and us all living in peace together – hey, I never said it was likely to be rooted in reality – but that’s just the central core of inspiration for some exquisite, and wide-ranging, creative fantasy, and fantastic fashion, from Undercover’s Japanese designer Jun Takahashi.
Conceptually striking, beautifully lit, atmospheric music and with stunning shape and style, this video of the show really is worth fifteen minutes of any style connoisseur’s time. It truly is performance art.
I’d also note, just in passing obviously, how strikingly wearable much of this collection is, skipping over the extremes of artifice required in executing the show’s concept – gorgeous chunky knits, voluminous curvy shrugs, sparkling jewelled jumpers, swathes of luscious fabrics, glimmering and gleaming colours.
Pick up a piece or two, pair it with jeans and a tee or my favourite all-black silhouette and we’ll all be ready to go … who knows where?
