Wood is such a warm and beautiful material for home interiors, isn’t it?
I’m not one for ceiling beams or wood panelling but floors and lovingly carved items of furniture are must-haves somewhere in my home, especially in areas where I otherwise prefer cold, clinical lines … like my kitchen.
Searching for something a little different, I’d seen these George Nakashima Bar Stools, above, some time ago, bookmarked the website – his studio is now run by his daughter, Mira, continuing in his tradition – and crushed on the Mira Chairs, Music Stand and Double Cross-Leg Desk, below, but I hadn’t quite realised how classic American Craft his work was. My bad.
I have now addressed my ignorance, read up on the man and his work, and am almost resolved to find a place for some appropriate combination of the gorgeous vintage George Nakashima Chairs which may be found in auctions, mostly in the US. Thank goodness for global shipping, right?
Sensuously tactile wood furniture: ✅💋
