The Nicholas Brothers in Stormy Weather directed by Andrew L. Stone, 1943

The Nicholas Brothers

An item in The Times today sent me off to YouTube, searching for a video of The Nicholas Brothers in Stormy Weather directed by Andrew L. Stone, 1943.

I’ve seen this dance before, of course, but sometimes you need a memory jog to refresh the images filed away in your cerebral cortex.

And, how sublime the Nicholas Brothers are in this clip, below.

If you haven’t seen it, do take three minutes of time to marvel at the musicality, originality, athleticism and sheer skill of these two brilliant dancers. There are many more moments of their brilliance to enjoy on YouTube should you have time and inclination to explore.

If you’re a fan of Strictly, I’m sure you’ll spot where the inspiration behind Joanne Clifton’s choreography for Ore Aduba’s show dance in last weeks final must have come from.

Forget the tinsel and the carols, this makes me thrum with Christmas cheer.

Enjoy.
