With the holiday season looming, this is one of the busiest periods of the year for new books and I love it.
For fiction, I’m a diehard e-reader but for art, fashion, interiors, photography, it’s hardbacks every time both for me and as gifts to others. There is still no replacement for the physical warmth and satisfaction in the ritual of page-turning revelation.
My first book purchase, this year, has been of Stoppers: Photographs From My Life At Vogue by Phyllis Posnick.
Elle Decor describes Posnick as Vogue magazines ‘wild child’ compared to Grace Coddington’s ‘romantic’ and both have been responsible for some stunning Vogue photography over the years – though, to be clear, this book is all about Posnick’s creative vision.
Stoppers is full of startling and, yes, wild photography that will make you laugh, cringe and laugh again. It’s on my shelf and, maybe, there’s room for it on yours too?
Ding dong.
