Haute Couture over, the fashion world moves on to the autumn-winter (A/W) ready-to-wear (RTW) shows where the big commercial bucks are made or lost.
This RTW fashion is that which we will all of us buy, in one form or another, next winter. So, whist still a lot of fabulous fun, this is also seriously big industry business.
Whilst the main shows – New York, London, Paris and Milan – are well reported on, there are a whole series of smaller – geographically disparate – shows that are not as high profile internationally but which do show a number of significant, and well known, commercial designer names as well as new and indigenous designers.
One of my favourite of these smaller shows is Copenhagen Fashion Week, just finished now, where I eagerly look for the collections by Ivan Grundahl – click on the link to see more and visit the online shop. I’ve featured previous Ivan Grundahl collections on this blog too which you may find by using the search box, top right.
The A/W 2015 collection by Ivan Grundahl does not disappoint me. It is essentially all blacks and greys, enlivened with neon orange, in the main, plus a few other colours and patterns. There is an outstanding series of hats – love hats even though I rarely get a chance to wear them – and the usual interesting composition of layering, fabrics, and funky footwear.
Casual, easy, kick-ass style – I love it and hope you do too.
