Sometimes, in fashion, you see an upcoming designer and think, ‘Ooh, nice.’
For a few years, you watch them develop, hoping they will go on to greater things then, poof, they’re gone. Who knows where?
I’ve been featuring Yiqing Yin on the +Black blog since 2012-13, click here to see previous posts. Designing initially under her own name then for Leonard Paris, 2014-16, Yiqing Yin disappeared from my radar when her time with Leonard Paris ended.
I did wonder where she’d gone and now, I know.
Happily in 2018, she has emerged as part of the creative team attached to a major relaunch of the famed Couture label of Paul Poiret.
With Yiqing Yin working alongside Anne Chapelle, formerly of Haider Ackerman, the new creative team showed their first Poiret RTW Fall 2018 Collection at PFW this week.
And, I really do like so much of it.
A lovely stylish combining of thoughtful, simple, flattering style with beautiful fabrics. Just enough edge to be interesting and entirely wearable.
The huge sweater/long skirt look is such a favourite of mine, as are voluminous wrapping coats or capes over a narrow silhouette.
This is me doing my happy dance 👣 Yiqing Yin is back and it’s looking good. 💋
