Plus size shopping in the US is so much easier than in the UK, possibly even enjoyable. All the major department stores have huge plus size ranges and ship to the UK. If you buy a few things at a time, it’s not prohibitively expensive even with tax and import duties. I’d recommend Saks, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom but look around, there’s a lot to choose from. Some of my favourite non-UK brands include:

And, of course, an all-time favourite with a wider US department store selection than in their own European online store:

Happy shipping(!).
Eileen fisher are about to open up uk shops and have already opened up uk online store, however they are following the traditional us pricing policy of 1 dollar = 1pound. You’ll do better buying direct of Nordstrom us website even including tax and shipping. People should be aware of this ridiculously silly policy and complain to Eileen fisher uk. Perhaps if enough people complain they’ll understand it’s not acceptable.
Hi Helen,
Yes, I know what you mean and it is very annoying. Problem is shipping & taxes from the US are so expensive that, along with the problems of being unsure about fit & possibly needing to return, it often does make sense to pay the higher price for a one-off or until you are familiar with sizing and quality issues. It always does make you feel like you are being overcharged though … annoying! Thanks for your interest. Best, Elle.
